Abstract

Universities are centers of science, research, entrepreneurship, and capacity building for the younger generations. These scientific centers have carried out their responsibilities from the beginning until now. Universities have played a major role in nations' social, economic, and cultural development given their goals and duties. Developed countries owe this achievement to universities' role in production, entrepreneurship, and training of skilled workers. Universities have gone through various stages since the beginning. From teaching pure sciences to communicating with society and prioritizing social and national necessities are among them. Afghan universities have also played an effective role in training professional cadres and raising the level of education in the country. The activities of the country's universities have also led to an increase in the country's gross national income and per capita income between 2002 and 2019. The purpose of the study is to investigate the role of universities in the economic and social growth of nations. This research has been used qualitatively and analytically from library resources.
